My Sisterhood Story~ Katie Ryan

01.08.2018

My name is Katie Ryan and I’m a rising senior from Gadsden, Alabama! I love the sun, anything yellow, chocolate, chinchillas, and most importantly all of the people that God has placed in my life.

I’m majoring in Early Childhood Education and plan to complete my student teaching internship overseas wherever I get placed — which will be in Greece, New Zealand, Australia, or Netherlands this coming Spring! I’m currently working as a waitress at Niffers and at Study Partners in the Auburn University library to save up for when I go abroad! The summer of 2015 is when I decided to go through recruitment, and I had no idea which sorority I would end up in. I kept an open mind and wrote in a journal after visiting each sorority so I could keep track of my experiences. I still have that journal and love looking back in it because Pi Phi is the sorority that I had an awesome experience with and felt at ease with every single time I entered the doors of the chapter room. I remember having genuine conversations with everyone I met — especially the one and only Annie Fesenmeier who I talked to on preference day! Though pref day is meant to be super serious, I knew that Pi Phi was the perfect home for me once I was laughing so hard that I was moved to tears by talking with her. She made me feel so comfortable and I was just happy to be in Pi Phi surrounded with others who I knew I wanted to be my sorority sisters. Being in Pi Phi is absolutely the best choice I’ve made in my life other than coming to Auburn. I’m constantly surrounded by a caring, funny, smart, motivated, involved, and genuine community of girls and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. The thought of going to chapter and participating in recruitment excites me when I know it does quite the opposite for so many other people! Knowing that I get to be around the best girls who love and care for me means the world to me, and I wouldn’t trade these experiences for anything. The women in Pi Phi have 100% shaped me into the person I am today, and all glory goes to God for placing me amongst these angels :).
