Rising senior Kathleen Moore is from Enterprise, Alabama, but has been an Auburn Tiger her entire life. Her parents met at Auburn and raised her siblings and her to love the orange and blue. She is studying Communication and minoring in English. Kathleen is serving as the Senior Member Coordinator for Pledge Class ‘15 next year and looks forward to sharing her last few semesters at Auburn with her incredible Pi Phi sisters.
Kathleen recently returned to Alabama from Washington, D.C. after serving as a White House Intern for the spring 2018 semester. This experience was both challenging and rewarding. She worked alongside some of the most amazing students from all across our nation and was honored to learn from them and their experiences. She was able to volunteer at the White House Easter Egg Roll, tour the East Wing and appear in a photo with President Donald J. Trump. Kathleen also had the opportunity to attend speaker seminars from a few of her favorite political minds. From Kellyanne Conway, Tucker Carlson and Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke to Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Ben Carson and General John Kelly. All of these incredible leaders poured knowledge into her that she’s sure to never forget.
Her time in DC taught her a ton about being independent. It forced me to move outside of her comfort zone in a way she never thought possible. It also taught her the importance of a kind word. Receiving texts and visits from those that love her and supported her absolutely meant the world to Kathleen and has encouraged her to do the same for others in the future. Her advice to anyone looking into a future in politics or general press and communications would be to put yourself out there and get involved. She knows a ton of campaigns at the local and state levels that would love to have your input and help. Volunteering on campaigns is an awesome way to get involved in the system and make contacts that will benefit you in the future. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! It just might pay off.
Here at Pi Phi we are so incredibly proud of Kathleen for her time and service to the White House in Washington and are so excited to have her back with us in Auburn for the coming semester!
